ABOUT

I love hardcore, progressive, metal, acoustic, liquid dnb, progressive house, chillstep. I'm here to try to start a new acoustic or heavy band. The last band I was in was Stella Dawes.

I play a few instruments but mostly guitar. If I do a heavy band then I'm looking for another guitarist (there's no 'lead' and 'rhythm', let's make it 50/50), bass, drums and vocals. So a 5 piece hardcore(?) band. I'd also be up for doing a Toe/Explosions type band with no vocals. If i go down the acoustic route (which would be cheaper, easier to write songs (less parts to write!) etc then I'm just looking for another acoustic guitarist (hopefully of a similar style) or a vocalist, or a vocalist/guitarist.

For me music is all about song-writing and performing (but mostly song-writing-creating emotion through combinations of sounds on instruments!), rather than how impressive your skills are on any particular instrument. I love how 2 guitars and a bass can work together, and how bass and drums do, and how the timing and notes of vocals can add so much to a song.

I love the sounds of...........

Explosions in the Sky
Envy
Tesseract (latest album is particularly good)
Cavities
Suis La Lune
Dillenger Escape Plan (prefer the older stuff)
Poison the Well (older stuff)
The Bled
Hopesfall
The Black Dahlia Murder
Toe
This Town Needs Guns

Thanks.

Influences

Classical music (sound layers and note combinations, rhythms - although I hardly listen to classical, it's got to be the greatest genre of pure music-writing and understanding of music and sounds and how they can fit together to create emotions, feelings and atmosphere).

Hardcore and Metal bands.

Every band I've ever spent too much time listening to, from child to present. From Blur, Muse and My Vitriol, to the heaviest music you could imagine; to liquid DnB, the huge sound of trance and the tranquility of chillstep.

People I've been in bands with from the age of 11 or 12, to present.

My Step-Dad.

EQUIPMENT

I sold everything but my guitars. Oh well, it'll be alright. Finally I can be the guy borrowing others' equipment instead of being the lender!
