ABOUT
I was looking to join a ceilidh band or folk ensemble for gigging, near Stroud in Gloucestershire... But I've just got a new job with a horrible commute, so I'm not looking right now.
I learnt Irish fiddle (Clare style) as a kid and in the last year have taken it back up again, going to 1-2 local trad sessions per week. I can improvise, sight-read and play by ear. I know about 100 Irish tunes but that number is growing all of the time. I also dabble in American old time/bluegrass, and Renaissance music on the viola da Gamba.
My background is in classical but I find folk more relaxing as a hobby. I have grade 8 (not that it means much in the real world) and spent years in quartets, and orchestras such as CBSO Youth. I used to make a bit of cash playing at weddings, and would play for my local church too.
By day I'm an engineer.
