The Beatles, Cure, Smiths, Libertines, Grateful Dead and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. There are a lot more bands left to mention but these are just some of the first that came to mind!
One thing I really like is funk and disco from the 80's, those basslines that just make you want to groove! I believe that kind of sleek and warm undertone is something modern indie/rock is lacking, and would love to see that make an appearance once more!
