Acoustic Guitar.

ABOUT

Hi there, I'm Alex and I'm a piano player currently in a busy cover band, and my time with them has given me plenty of experience and contacts of my own. I'm looking to create a young, modern and unique acoustic rock trio.

I am thinking of playing piano/keys and perhaps some acoustic and bass and backing
vocals of my own, and at the moment I am looking for a guitarist that can play mostly
acoustic and electric, and possibly a bit of bass and backing vocal too although I'm
open to seeing how things pan out with rehearsals. I produce backing tracks of my own
to supplement our playing, I never let this draw focus from what the instrumentalists
are doing but it adds percussion and depth, filling in gaps that three people can't
fill and insuring that we don't miss out on the big weddings with large dance floors.

In the fullness of time, I would then look to get a vocalist once myself and a guitarist have gelled. I'm eager to get the musical side of things sorted before that point and drop a singer in later so that there are no musical teething problems and we can focus entirely on getting the best out of a vocalist.

I would book pub/cafe gigs at first, these would tide us over and help us bed in our
sound, and then I have a few contacts in wedding venues to cut deals with and also one or two agents along the M4 that we can give press packs to. This will involve recordings
and photographs and a professional press package, all of which I can handle at very
minimal cost, we'll cover this easily with pub gig earnings.

My eventual aim is for this band to be busy for most of the week and to be my primary income, I am here and there earning at the moment, and the members in my cover band are busy elsewhere in other bands and we are turning down bookings etc, hence my eagerness to consolidate everything into one good, committed band of like-minded and driven individuals.

I would be looking to make four figures a booking, at first we will command between £180 and £300 for pub gigs and £600-£1000 for weddings. This is the level my current trio is at. These fees will increase as our press package and
performance improves.

In terms of cash split, I am happy to split the cash three ways so long as every band
member pulls their weight and is happy to organise themselves travelwise should any
carpooling be a problem. I have the equipment and use of a fully fitted rehearsal space
in Port Talbot and you would need to be able to get here once a week and a time agreed
by everyone. I am in the process of building a new studio in the Afan Valley but I am not short of recording facilities and equipment for the time being.

As a cover musician it is also imperative that you are available for the peak days
friday and saturday night each week, as well as generally available for peak periods
like summer and Christmas, New Year and bank holidays. There is a tonne of money out
there to be made and although it takes work and commitment, there is no better way to
do it than through live music!
