SEEKING
Band to Join.ABOUT
I enjoy performing folk fiddle, but was classically trained up to Grade 8 on violin. I am open to experiment with various genres such as Celtic, folk, blues, country, folk rock, funk and world jazz. I have both an acoustic and electric violin.
I have mainly played at folk sessions, jam sessions and open mic nights. I have played at open mic nights on and off over the last three years, both solo and with other acoustic musicians, as well as performing in youth ensembles for almost 7 years. I performed with the Berkshire Youth Symphony Orchestra for two years in venues both UK and abroad, such as the Royal Albert Hall in London and Shanghai Oriental Art Center in China.
I have also done some collaborative recordings over lockdown, including the cover of "Runaway" by The Corrs with friends on Garageband. I also wrote and recorded a violin part for several songs whilst auditioning to join the gypsy punk band "The Filthy Spectacula". I did not become a band member but the audition process was an invaluable experience.
Last summer I played solo folk fiddle at a mini-festival called "Music and Art in the Garden" in Colchester, followed by a wedding where I performed both solo and with the ceilidh band.
Most recent projects include performing with the Grand Union Shoreditch and Hoxton Community Orchestra, focusing on improvisation and exploring world music from across Latin America, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. I have also just joined the sister band Grand Union Re:Generation, playing world jazz. Looking to be moderately committed but also to have fun!
