I'm a proficient musician and make a pretty reasonable sound, having played for over 50 years now, and after stepping back from my last band, The Alternators:
(https://www.bandmix.co.uk/thealternators/), to concentrate on getting 'my' sound back, and looking for a new project band to write, play and gig covers and/or original Indie / Alternative style rock / pop.

So many - 1960's to current Rock - anything upbeat with a good hook and groove...
I can carry off melodic pieces as well as the "just go for it" variety. Whilst I was in The Alternators, which in its most recent format, for the last 6 years, was a covers band, it did its own versions of many well known tunes, and played truer versions of others. I am very guitar based in preference and lean towards the Alternate / Indie Rock and Pop genres.

My influences are really very wide and I like any music that has a bit of attitude and or creates an atmosphere or conjures your emotions.

Anything from:
Jonathan Richman, Bowie, Velvet Underground, Patti Smith, The Only Ones, Stranglers, Talking Heads, Interpol, Franz Ferdinand, Nick Cave, Demob Happy, Yard Act, The Waeve, Hozier, Richard Hawley etc etc (I've left out many to keep the list short).
However I do also listen constantly to a far wider variety of more mainstream music - and blues and blues rock and even country!

It is also very important, to me, that lead and backing vocals in any band are really good and can achieve, if required, quite complex harmonies (albeit that I can't offer vocals as my voice couldn't sing for toffee!).
