I currently drum for the Angelic Upstarts and I'm looking to form a Reggae / Dub / Ska / Soul band based in Sunderland / Newcastle and looking for some like minded musicians to jam with and get a band started.

Currently seeking: Guitarist(s), drums, bass, vocals, keyboard/organ player, trumpet/trombone/sax

I've been playing drums for over a decand in various local punk/rock and roll bands but reggae and soul have, since an early age, been where my heart is when it comes to music. I can play keyboard and guitar aswell (to an extent!) and have been working on writing some original material but would love to get some like minded musicians to jam and work on material with. I'm happy to play keys, drums or even rhythm guitar in the band so whichever we end up needing the most!

My ambition for the band is to preform and record original material but im happy to work on and even preform covers of original 1970's Jamaican Ska, reggae and dub until we have enough original material to preform ourselves.

Original artists/bands for influence - Lee Scratch Perry & King Tubby's whole back catalogue!! Toots Maytals, John Holt, The Congo's, Dennis Brown, Horace Andy, The Wailers, Peter Tosh, Scientist among many, many others

Modern bands - The Aggrolites, The Slackers, Hepcat, Easy Star All-Stars, Prince Fatty, Hollie Cook, 10ft Ganja Plant, Alborosie (To name a few)

I'm open to ideas and direction for where the band will go and the whole point of this advert is i want to meet and jam with talented, like minded musicians and see what kind of sound/band we produce!

I run a reggae night in Sunderlands Independent called "Roots & Culture" with a couple of friends (http://www./rootsandculturenight) have a pop down and a chat if you want, there's so much more i could write in this advert but its already looking like an essay so i'll leave it at that!
