36 year old human male, one time BMus student, seeks similar talented, yet under-achieving, musicians in the South London vicinity for paid covers/tribute band/function work now that we are too old to be pop stars but too financially/intellectually involved to totally abandon music.
Nearly 20 years gigging experience, good ear, quick study, knows when to dig in and when to lay out. Sight-reading skills long since wilted and not in any demand as a vocalist, but can do a spot of rhythm guitar and light keyboard work.
Own transport, own teeth, sharp suits, no vices.
"Yes, please" to Rock, Rhythm and Blues, Prog, Hardbop Jazz, Funk, Soul, Afrobeat, Stax/Motown, even Gospel, why not?
"No, thanks" to Metal, R'n'B, Rap, Hip Hop, Coldplay and their whiny co-conspirators, Dance/electronic non music.
I will dress up as any bassist in history, from Bootsy Collins to Suzi Quatro, if it helps pay the mortgage quicker. Hell, full-blown Sun Ra make-up and robes. Let's put the spectacle back into music!
Can realistically commit to once-weekly rehearsals (plus own study time), couple of gigs a month. I have a day job to be alert for and a wife to occasionally cross paths with.
Thanks, but I am not really interested in original bands, unless it's guaranteed folding money/jet-setting/mainstream exposure. Like I said, I'm a quick study and can be easily hidden behind an attractive backing dancer. If it's just Monday night at The Bull and Gate, sorry but I've been there, worn the t-shirt, fantasised about garrotting the so-called promoter with a rusty guitar string and packing him into a flightcase and chucking it into the Regent's Canal etc... Good luck with that.
Thanks for reading. Please drop me a line if you are interested, or even only if you know what hardbop means and are under 80 years old.
