I played in bands on Bass for a couple of years 10 years ago and sorely miss it! I had to stop because I went freelance with the orchestral career and I was flying all over the place so couldn't commit to bands. I'm employed with the BBC now with a regular work schedule with no random 'drop it and go' calls anymore, so I'm in a position to resume my banding.
