Hello to everyone on band mix, my name is bill; hope you are all well and good. I am writing this advertisement as I am looking for some committed talent out there, who wants to - along with me create a real good rock/blues band. Just before I go into details, about me as a person and were I have got to so far, I want to be very clear and honest, from the of, that is I am very serious, about what I am going to say now and I hope that every musician, after they read this advertisement, will at least be thinking, well bill is someone, who is not only fully committed himself, but has gone over and above to do what he has done. After all, it’s no big secret, that most people, who want to join a band don’t, for the obvious reasons and they are, we heard it all before, this won’t go no were, am I going to always be the backstage musician, that no one takes any notice of, will I ever get my songs on the album and more so do I get an even cut in the royalties. I think we all can safely say, this is what every musician, that is looking to join a band says and I cannot blame them as what I have mentioned above, always seems to be the issues.
Now I have said that, let me tell you about me. Well actually I should start by saying, that I am lead guitarist, been one now on and off for 30, years. I also buy and sell guitars & amplifiers for a living, so I am well connected with that instrument. OK! Back in the 80,s I was in a band that had been together for 5 years, we were not bad at all and could have gone places, if it was not for a change in culture. At about the time we was ready to go, new wave was coming in and rock music, after a ten year dominance was beginning to fade slightly. Very upsetting for us as I really believed if that had not happened in other words if it had been the 70,s not the 80,s, everything could have worked out differently, but as they say, this is how it goes. At that time I was 16, years old and of course, just left school and needed to get a job, so I had to kiss goodbye to my music and the band as it was not going to go anywhere now and be welcomed by the likes of Duran Duran and Culture Club. Not really my thing and neither was the rest of my band mates, impressed with any of that either.
I went on to do many other activities after that, but there was always a part of me, that wanted to get back into music seriously and hopefully, have another band some day. Around 2015, I really got the bug again and I was asking myself all these questions, for example! Is it too late for me now and in these times is rock music still appreciated to a point, where so many people still listen to it. These questions were not too hard to answer, first and foremost as for it being too late, well I am only in my forties and when you think the rolling stones are still going and there 30, years older than me, certainly nothing to worry about is it. Secondly and this was a bit good fortune as to rock music itself and were that stands at this moment in time, well its actually starting to make a comeback as is the 60,s and 70,s culture. Just look at what has been going on in the charts, over the last few years, we have seen comebacks from,
Dave Gilmour, Fleetwood Mac, Queen without Freddie mercury, which is saying something, then there is other famous musical compositions, that have taken centre stage again, Abba, Diana Ross, Rod Stewart, Elton john, he never seems to go away and I am sure there is quite a few more, that I have not mentioned. Not forgetting, that the rolling stones and also status quo are still touring in fact a year ago, status quo brought out yet another album, without their great rhythm guitarist, Rick Parfitt. Nice to see these great talents, are still with us, I don’t think there ever completely fade out. So this is only telling me, that rock, pop, soul, blues is defiantly on its way back and what a great opportunity to do this again, but this time it’s got to be really successful ,
Now as to what I have achieved so far, with getting a band together. In the last three months, I have written a complete album composition, consisting of ten songs. These have all got a copy write, so no one else can take any of that material, without my authorisation or the bands authorisation, when eventually one comes together. There is many more in the making, but I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself, without at first, putting these songs to music and see how they will sound. I also have a trademark, going through the intellectual property office, with a name for the band. After much thought and making sure I had not duplicated anyone else, I came up with THE WILD ORCHIDS. Now I hope who is ever reading this, likes the sound of that, very 1960,s and 70,s don’t you think and as that is the kind of music we will be playing, it’s good to have a name, that sounds like it can live up to the expectation.
I have also been in contact with the British music industry as to the collection of royalties. As we all know, they are a very big organisation, so I don’t believe we should have too much reason, not to feel as if we are going to be treated unfairly. But just to give you a more reassuring insight into that, the last thing I will allow is for me and my band mates to put up with any misconduct. I have run two successful businesses, over the last 20, years and I know precisely, how to avoid matters of that nature. In this world as you know we have players and jokers, more so people, who think they can step in give us all this jargon, about how they can do so much for us, when we can do it all ourselves, just to reap financial benefits.
Anyone we allow to get involved with this band, will depend on how committed they are, what it is they can really do for us and more to the point, not think they are going to get away with, trying to lead us up the garden path. Plus if any one band member does not feel comfortable, with a certain person, they will not be part of our establishment, whether that be a manger, an accountant or even a roadie. So guys and girls, please do understand me, when I say, that I am not selfish and got this attitude if I am not happy, that is it, I have to like every one of us, respect my band mates and the decisions they make. I hope so far, after reading this much about what I have wrote, you are at least beginning to believe, that what I want more than anything is not just musicians, but commitment and professionalism of the highest order and not any unmotivated time wasters or opportunists, that think they are going to get away with being disrespectful, towards this band. I can assure you now, it won’t happen, so don’t even respond to this advertisement if that is your intentions.
Now as to the group itself, well I play lead guitar, I can also do rhythm, but lead is well I excel. What is required?
A bass player
A drummer
And more so a really good front man, any Freddie mercury’s out there, who wants to join a committed band.
Other musicians, who play different instruments, will be strongly considered if it fits in well, with the rest of us.
Now if you are one or the other, but are thinking to yourself, for nce I play bass, but I am not really good, but very committed, that could prove sufficient. I would sooner have a novice bass player, that will put everything into it than a professional bass player, who is a bit half hearted. So don’t think for one minute, you might not be good enough.
Just before you ask the question, no, there is not going to be any auditions. As I just said, it’s not about who the best, but who is the most committed and will put everything they have into the band. Also! Appearances do play a part, we are a rock group, so I am sure you can appreciate, I want my other band mates to look like rock stars. Having a wild and wonderful outlook towards life and following a culture, always reflects in what you’re doing in this case, were a rock/blues band, so I don’t want someone in the group, who is more of a choir boy. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with choir boys, I was in the school choir for 7, years, back in the 70.s but I am sure no one would disagree, that image won’t do us much good, with what we are going to be playing.
I do have at present, photographers, sketch artists and film production candidates, showing interest in our band. These people we are going to need and like us they are up and coming, want to move into bigger and better things, plus anyone who does these activities as a pastime or actually at university, getting a degree in these subjects is really good for the band as they we will be able to grow with us and hopefully, achieve their ambitions.
Well! My very flamboyant musicians, that just about explains it I guess. I really do hope, that I have covered every aspect of what it is that might concern you, when you’re thinking about joining a serious band and that you now truthfully believe, that if you’re going to be a member of the wild orchids, you! Like the rest of your band mates, will not just be respected, but feel that you are going to be treated no differently as if it was me. I cannot emphasize enough the seriousness that is expected from each individual, however! If that is something you can appreciate and are prepared to make sacrifices for stardom, (if that’s a word I can use, without being to over overzealous) then I do believe that we can become successful.
Thank you all very kindly for taking the time to read this advertisement, if that is what you can call it and please do get in contact with me on 07811 095339 if you are interested in joining the band or have any questions.
Regards
Bill.

EQUIPMENT
I have a collection of guitars, mainly fender, i also buy and sell musical instruments. Naturally! along with all my guitars, there is amplifiers. My favourite, being the marshall 250 DFX, great studio amplifier and so many effects. As to semi acoustic i have owned a redwood, for about two years now and with the double humbucker pick ups, it sounds fantastic, this guitar i play more than others. I am also blessed with the fact i have a very good engineer, who sets up and finally tunes my guitars. Having such a great person like that, looking after you, well your going to sound the way you intended.
