Hi folks.
Boxfires, are on the lookout for a drummer to help us make incredibly loud (but also reasonably coherent noises) a few times a month. Unfortunately ours has had to bow out of proceedings due to a chronic injury that’s plagued him for a while. We’re all pretty devoed about that, especially as we’re just about to unleash some recorded material on the world, but nonetheless we’re now on the look out for someone to replace him.
We have a pretty big catalogue of songs at various stages of completion, so are really keen to get on with the work on those.
We’re all late 30’s and have jobs and lives and families and whatnot, so we’re not about to insist that anyone gives up theirs to come and hit the road. But a modest amount of commitment would be cool. We’re talking like practice every couple of weeks level of commitment is all.
So if you like the tunes, it sounds like something you might be interested in and you're of a similar age and/or disposition (or even if you're not, don’t let that put you off!) please drop me a private message and tell us a bit about yourself.
Cheers
Mike

Influences
I hate doing the whole "we sound like" thing. It's often as deluded as it is unrealistic, but generally we play melodic rock kinda stuff. Imagine somewhere along the Power Pop to Punk spectrum with a sprinkling of College Rock added here and there. Think elements of Sugar, Guided by Voices, Weezer, Manics, the Replacements, Pixies, Superchunk, Mansun, Big Star all in a massive pot and you might be somewhere in the vicinity.
Anyway, here’s a link to some of the stuff we've released so you can make your own mind up https://open.spotify/artist/2Vxf5UYMbbcsAnP81u9cF0?si=aTtizG66TheeukA5WuJ72Q
There are also some older demos in the music section on here and here: https://boxfires.bandcamp/album/demos
