My passion for music began at age 10 when I held my violin. Since then it opened up a whole new world for me and made me deeply appreciate the wider world of music. Violin became my passion and this love for music only deepened as I progressed into secondary school. I became involved in the school orchestra for both the string quartet and the fiddle group - these building my love for both classical music and Scottish traditional music. I branched out to Saturday Strings with Glasgow Create which in turn lead me joining the Glasgow School’s Symphony Orchestra. Each of these opportunities helped enhance my passion for music which made me devote myself to the subject throughout my life. My time at our schools Fiddle group, Orchestra and String quartet has allowed me to truly appreciate how much the department does for our school. For this very reason I have known for quite some time, that the subject I want to go into would be music. One thing I have been truly lucky with is the incredibly inspiring music teachers I have had, both my class teachers and my music tutor. I look up to them and I hope to embody those who I admire.
I have excellent time keeping and organisational skills. I am extremely hard working and I always give every task my full attention. I make sure my time is evenly distributed between my extra curricular activities and my studies to prepare for exams. I ensure that each aspect of my studies and any tasks given to me is done well in advance to allow for any additional time. I feel that I am a very empathetic and approachable person from my time as a Guide Leader. The experience has given me many other skills as well such as leadership skills, patience and I also find I can easily build a rapport with those younger or older than me. I always want to make sure each person is truly involved in a given task and nobody is feeling left out. The confidence that I have built in my time being a guide leader has been immense and has had only but a positive effect on other aspects of my life. I have gained many social and practical skills being a guide leader, all of which I can carry forth into my further education. I have great problem solving skills and work extremely well under pressure, a skill I take great pride in as I have developed it over my years at school. I hope to continue to develop and grow my passion for music throughout my life as it is something that I not only take very seriously but enjoy very deeply. Performing has given me confidence that I never thought I could achieve. It had given me a comfort in being who I am.
