Looking to hook up with talented musician(s) with common influences/ production tastes: Can (Damo Suzuki), Radiohead, Soundway Records, John Martyn….
Mainly just yearning for the simple joy of playing again, getting in a rehearsal room, collaborating on projects or dipping into something new without too much demand or preconception... though hopefully to play / gig/ record to some extent at some point.
Would love to connect with others who share in tastes and bloody minded ethos re playing & recording. Most of the stuff I really like tends to be rythmic/groove based; built on characteristics of players in a room; and less produced/compressed/layered/quantized recording unless there's something very interesting/esoteric in the sounds or arrangement. Even bands I quite like (early friendly fires, foals, grizzly bear, phoenix, the invisible ) I find the records a bit sterile at times, down to production i.e. tracking; close micing + digi reverb; quantized, compressed drums, well worn 4x4/ 4 to the floor disco beats.
Adept enough to have done a bit of work as session player long ago (though my sight reading is junk). I have nothing I'm very proud of to showcase but have worked with some interesting producers/engineers over the years Fran Ashcroft (Damon Albarn, Dandy Warhols); Dan Rejmer (Friendly Fires, Foals) ; Adrian Hall (The Young Knives, Battle and Ray Davies).
If that strikes a chord feel free to drop me a line.

Influences
Can (Damo Suzuki); Radiohead (especially more recent stuff ); Solid Air period John Martyn; Exile On Main St + Stones pre74ish; Tom Vek's first record; the weird esoteric stuff on Soundway records; Tom Waits; the odd bit of Arthur Russell; Pixies; Velvet Underground; John Barry scores; occasional bit of Sun Ra, Dave Brubeck; + Glyn Johns, Steve Albini, analog; dynamics; drums recorded with a few mics (that sound like drums); engineers/people interested in production or lack of it; stuff that's rhythmically not too straight; improvisation, experimentation & spontaneity without getting too self indulgent; …
