ABOUT

Over the years we have been subjected many things that have controlled, changed the way we live our lives and influenced the way that we think. At present we are being subjected to an economical melt down, and a total disregard for the working core, there is the ever present threat that history will repeat itself within the political structure, and that people will abuse their power within authority and brainwash the un educated with ideas of grandeur and that certain groups within our multicultural society are no longer welcome in this once great land.

The time has come for a voice on the street, from the shop floors of the dishevelled factories, the downtrodden people of society. This call to arms, the rallying call to the workers the voice of the few is being unleashed by Population Lost.

This four piece band which has emerged from the downtrodden mining belt of Chesterfield Derbyshire is finding their voice and speaking out through their angst fuelled music. Described by many as one of the countries finest underground punk rock bands they draw influences from all the music they listen to individually and transform it into a fast paced, driving, collective wall of noise that is Population Lost.

The fast paced ska/ punk fuelled songs are creating a common bond with people up and down the country. The infamous crooked spire seems to have infused itself into their quirky musical style.

The band formed in January 2002 from the ashes of a short lived ska band called the Skankin Grannies. Newt (formally of W.O.R.M) and Adam worked tirelessly on a set of songs before enlisting the help of various drummers and guitarists to create the bands current line up.

Whilst recording in 2008 the band enlisted the help of Jimmy trumpet on a couple of songs, to help fill out the songs and add a twist to the sound of the band. Since then he has now become a permanent fixture to their current line up.

This visually engaging band exploit their fuzzy, energetic, frenetic and very English sound to the max, with serious elements of Britpunk influence from bands such as Snuff, Goober Patrol, Leatherface, Capdown and even a strange but not unpleasent taste of the Levellers. Mix this with the energy and brevity of US Hardcore – Descendents, Angry Samoans and in their more adventurous and diverse moments, even aspiring to the heights of Articles Of Faith and Naked Raygun.

The band released their debut album “Doing it for Oli” in February 2005, this was recorded and released in true D.I.Y style, and has sold over 300 copies, throughout the UK , and the band are gaining a following throughout the world especially in America, Australia and Europe . The band has embarked on two mini tours of Ireland in 2006 and a Scotland in 2008. The band is currently working on their second album which they are hoping to release in June 2009.

In 2007 the band signed to the small independent label Party house records. They are working closely with them to enable digital releases through the label, another market place for their merchandise and working / touring with other bands that are on the label.

Over the bands 7 year history they have had the privilege to support the likes of the Vibrators, The UK Subs, Hell is for Hero’s, Fandangle, Mollygogo, The Hostiles and Skimmer to name a few.

Where ever the band go they win over the audience wit their songs which are all nt classic punk rock tracks, driven by raw emotion, passion and the belief that through our songs we can spread our socially aware attitude to fans old and new alike.

If you like a decidedly anti – commercial, anti – authoritarian and unpredictable edge to your punk, this is done so well that it’s definitely worth catching if you get the chance.
