SEEKING
Band to Join.ABOUT
Reached 40, and dead keen to do "something" musical before it's too late.
"Something" being anything from as involved as being in a band and gigging, or just getting together with like-minded souls and having some fun, be it in a studio, rehearsal space, garage, spare room, jam night or open-mic session. Anything goes, as long as it's
constructive and fun!
Being honest I have zip-all gig / studio experience (other than school concerts 25+ years ago!!) and minimal equipment (listed below), and am of intermediate ability.
So what do I have? Keen-ness. Desire. Passionate about music. Reliability and honesty. Won't let anyone down. Can drive. Wide and varied music taste. Ability to learn and pick things up quickly. Happy to play and try different instruments and styles.
Willing to learn from others. Love to practice and absorb new things.
Completely bereft of ego. I'm looking to have fun and do something I should have done 20+ years ago. Not to change the world and become an egotistical show-off.
So if all that and my keen-ness and reliability outweigh the fact I'm no virtuoso and have limited experience and equipment then maybe we could do something?
In terms of the instruments I can play:
Acoustic - I'd say intermediate level. Started learning at school and picked it up again a few years ago. Happy with fingerstyle, and into everything from classical, Spanish, blues through to modern / unplugged stuff.
Bass - on the cusp of beginner / intermediate. Only been learning about a year so am no Les Claypool (!), but know the basics. I understand rhythmn, keys, scales, etc.
Rhythm / Electric Guitar - intermediate level. Picked it up again several years back after learning at school initially many years ago.
I don't have vast improvising skills, but know the usual raft of classic licks and riffs and stuff. I understand music theory and a lot of the basics, and know my way
around a lot of the classics / staples.
