I've just started a mod sort of band with a lead guitarist,I play bass. We're influenced by Paul wellers solo material and the jam,the Beatles, the who, the stones, the doors, the kinks, the faces, the small faces etc etc. we're looking for a drummer, rhythm guitarist, piano/keys/synth player primarily though we would strongly consider people who are good at any instrument, we reckon it's important to have diversity. Like it's all well and good being a 'rock and roll band' but if every songs sounds like a rip off of oasis you're not gonna get anywhere. So we want to have an open ended project where we can mess about with different genres and sounds. We are a mod band though, with image and how we'd promote ourselves like in the way Paul Weller is really mod but a lot of his songs are really different with jazz drums and organ piano and whatnot. Anyway we're 18 and 20 and from west Lothian, we've both got a load of stuff between us to work on, we both have experience in active bands and I hae contacts to a local label we can 100% sign to a record with, photographers, promoters, venues, people to give us advice if we ever get stuck, with the label too there's a lot of musicians that would do session work so the possibilities are endless. Paul Weller, the jam, the who, the Beatles, the kinks, the faces, the small faces, James brown and all sorts of soul musicians mainly. We're also into kasabian, the charlatans, the bluetones, Blur, arctic monkeys' early stuff(their new album was sh*te) morcheeba,McCartney and wings, Lennon's solo stuff. The list is literally endless.
