ABOUT
Purveyors of the amphetamine driven torch song and a blend of the erotic and the neurotic, they sound as Jacques Brel would have done, had he owned a Les Paul and a fuzz box. Delivering chunky melodies and suburban angst Dogstand have in their own way built up quite a reputation for creating thoughtful pop tunes for the Prozac generation. They write cynical, angry, sad tunes with pathos and humour swathed in appealing melodies. Main tunesmith Graeme Martin is in fact a refugee from pre Brit-poppers BUM! The good news is that the new Dogstand line-up includes original BUM! drummer Stuart Soulsby as well as a set that includes two of their early songs. Stuart was becoming ever more enthusiastic about getting a fully functional band back on the road, and managed to persuade lead guitarist Paul Langford to try out for the band. He slipped into it with no problems and has bought a wealth of experience to the group. Ex-chainsaw illusionaire, Carli completes the line up with a heady combination of honking sax, tuneful melodies and a fair bit of shouting. www.myspace.dogstand www.dogstand
