SEEKING
Band to Join.ABOUT
I moved back home to Scotland around a year ago, after 12 years away. In my early days, I played in various club and wedding bands around the Ayrshire & Central Scotland area.
Over the past few years I've mainly been doing fill-in and studio work, as well as writing my own material.
Absolutely LOVE playing live. I am happy playing cover versions or original material, but prefer original stuff.
I'm a VERY easy guy to get along with, as long as the music is good, and the band is fun to play with :-)
I have managed to resurrect the last band I was in back in 1996, and we are playing the pub/club/wedding circuit. I'm also doing fill-in work with other bands.
I would, however, be very interested in getting together with some other musicians to try and develop some of the material I've been writing over the past few years. There are demo recordings of some of the earlier songs on here, along with some cover versions (just for good measure). The tracks are not that well-produced, by any means, but they are good enough to give an initial representation of each song.

Influences
My main influences would be Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, Joe Walsh, Rory Gallagher, Steve Gaines, John Mayer, Brian May and Angus Young. That's not to say I strive to sound (or play) exactly like any of them, but I probably incorporate elements of each of their styles now and again, depending on the type of music I happen to be playing at the time.
When playing cover versions, I don't spend a lot of time trying to capture the original artists tone. I prefer to put my own interpretation into each song.
EQUIPMENT
Guitars:
- Various Fender Stratocasters (with EMG pickups)
- Fender Custom Shop Clapton Stratocaster (with Kinman pickups & switching system)
- PRS Standard 24
- Moon Acoustics
Amps:
- Mesa/Boogie; HiWatt; Marshall
I generally use the guitar & amp combination that's best suited for the band I am playing with on any given night.
Effects:
- Keeley Compressor
- Keeley-modified TS-9 DX Flexi
- Keeley Katana Boost
- Flynn OC44 Treble Boost
- Analog Man Chorus
- Boss DD-7 Delay
I'm a big fan of Robert Keeleys products and pedal mods. His own effects are absolutely amazing and he can do wonderful things to Boss and Ibanez pedals to make them sound good. He replaces the cheap crappy circuits inside each pedal with high quality parts, which sound great and stop them from killing your tone.
