ABOUT

Okay; am I the only 50 something rebellious rocker in the whole of West Scotland seeking to join or form an absolute beast of a butt kicking metal band, in the Glasgow, Clyde / Inverclyde, Helensburgh & Lomond areas, that actually wants to put in the effort, go the distance and aim to go full time pro? Hope not!

Experienced lead vocalist & songwriter (also play a bit of rough assed 'punk DIY style' rhythm guitar & percussion - but primarily focussed on the frontman role for the last 16 years on & off), moved to Scotland (Helensburgh) 3 years ago from Manchester - where I did many years in several bands on the local pub & club circuit as well as playing some larger scale festivals & rallies.

Seeking (before I give up out of utter frustration) to form something immense, loud, often fast, raw & powerful, yet also melodic in places.

My musical tastes & influences are very wide ranging ... consisting of primarily metal (all kinds, from hard classic through to thrash, hardcore / metalcore; as well as nu / rap, industrial / electronic / experimental, goth and some hard melodic, symphonic & folk, etc.); also punk (mainly Sex Pistols, The Ramones, The [early] Damned - and allso some of the harder faster 80s stuff that laid the ground for thrash metal) and some occasional elements of ska & reggae.

Safe to say then I try to keep my mind as wide as my preferences and I'm open to various ideas, suggestions, styles & possible directions. I'd be particularly interested in a crossover project that fuses several of the styles mentioned above ... let's just say I get bored easily - and it would also appeal to my penchant for snarling, rebellious punk influenced lyrics that ain't scared to have a pop at the state of the world (and my habit of sticking two fingers up at 'The Rule Book'). Basically I want to combine the musicianship, showmanship & professionalism of the big metal bands with the down to earth attitude & conscience of the punk and folk rock bands ... with the odd 'curveball' thrown in occasionally to keep things interesting & unpredictable.

I have a naturally deep voice (bass / baritone - never understood why so many male metal vocalists feel the need to sound like they've been kicked in the spuds) - which is also naturally growly on higher notes, and would therefore probably be suited to several of the genres mentioned.

Looking for like minded talented musicians who refuse to give up on their dreams just because of their age and want to make a success & possibly even a living out of their music. Age wise, 25 - 30 + would be great so I don't end up feeling too much like the band 'Daddy' - but not an absolute requirement; ability & either stage experience or willingness to gain it is more important than age. Any gender, ethnicity or background is similarly welcome.

I have probably around two album's worth of songs written - (which could obviously be expanded further with input from other band members), a high level of lyric writing ability, live stage & recording experience, the confidence to give it some banter with the audience, and a good understanding of the importance of stage presence & putting on a good show (as well as a uniquely unorthodox way of creating tunes that seems to either fascinate or infuriate people - but always seemed to work in the past!).
