ABOUT

Songwriter/musician (guitar bass vocals electronic)

Coming to Cambridge area in March from Australia-

Looking just to start meeting some other people just to play to start with for fun. I have a lot of material written and want to start recording albums/tracks. Also would like to get the core of something going with some other musos to play live - when it opens up again (after some relaxed local gigging to get the band together I would like us to aim for festivals and profile gigs.

Looking for: to:

1/ another musician, engineer, producer to write and record with

and/or
2/ other musos to build a kicking live band-

(these could be linked or separate projects).

get me on mfitzpatrick2000 at dot co dot uk

For a band, would like to get tight with 1 or 2 musicians before expanding the arrangements. Another bass/guitar player or keyboard player with a drummer would be a good core? Although open to any musicians e.g. string player or horn player?? I love cellos

For writing and recording- could be just with another person.
I have tons of stuff we can work on. I have 30-50 songs with some good ideas how they can be played/produced- but open to how that may go. Also happy to write new stuff with someone else or contribute to some else's material.

Into most influences like jazz, funk, modern classical, folk, electronic, afro beat- punk- dub or ska vibe. Not really a big fan of metal.

I have a big croaky voice (loosely a bit influenced by Johnny Cash, Van Morrison or old delta bluesmen)-but can sing sweet and high some of the time- can do funk or blues- atmospheric folk (have listen above quick phone recordings) but more than happy not to sing and to work with a singer. I was a backing musician for many years so singing is quite new and fresh for me.

Happy to work with a studio electro-beat set up and/or do remixes- (I can top-line vocals words over your beats/music no problem- as well as overdub bass or guitar effects stuff). I love electro dub and trip hop. I have a ton of songs/riffs/vocal lines that can be sampled and looped to make tracks- easy for loopers and producers.

I've added some of my songs - just recorded live on my phone- also you can search - www reverbnation / hallelujah byrne -for some more of my old songs. A bit random- no live stuff or much electro there- there's a load more where they came from.

Finally, sorry this has been much longer than I'd anticipated- also looking to doing walking bass for a jazz band. I was working in a jazz standard trio in Oz with a singer and guitarist. It's not my thing creatively but I loved the playing with the band and the challenge to my jazz chops (which are not the best but I like to try and improve my playing). If you play jazz standards or want to get into it- i'd love to join up with you. A piano player or guitarist and/or singer and horn player?

Get in touch if you want to work on something together. Cheers.

Influences

Bristol trip hop for the vibe / modern jazz for the harmony / funk for the beat / punk for the attitude / old blues for the growl / bossa for the groove / soul for the soul / Miles Kinda Blue for the cool / Herbie Hancock Headhunters for the sound / the words of English post punk songwriters like Elvis Costello / Squeeze for the cheeky geezer wit / ska for the suits and the skanking / Gil Scott Heron for the politics and the birth or rap / Van the man for the celtic spirit meeting the American soul / the Doors for the dynamic swirl / shoegaze and surf for the wall of sound / modern classical for where the harmony of Coltrane meets the ambient.

EQUIPMENT

Electric bass, electric guitars, various acoustic guitars, electric piano, currently just a basic gargeband set up- interface 2 mics - thinking of getting an electronic drum kit so the band can practice - all on headphones- with a good mix in all of our ears.
