I am an eclectic feminist musician (pianist, trumpeter, producer and songwriter) interested in collaborating with other musicians (particularly vocalists) to create edgy electronic tracks.
I want to create ambitious music that says something about our time and helps imagine a radically better future.

Influences
Ultimately, I am very multi-dimensional as a musician - resisting / pushing against the limitation of labels, box ticking and categorisation. Yes...this means that the industry will struggle to reduce me in to a commercial package…but so be it…
I draw upon lots of different influences from the Western Classical Canon (especially serialism and minimalism) to 20th Experimental Music (e.g. Sound Art and Musique concrète) to pop (Lady Gaga) to RnB (e.g. Janelle Monae) to Hip Hop (e.g. Missy Elliot, Angel Haze) to indie (e.g. Radiohead, Muse) to punk (e.g. The Slits, Le Tigre) dance (e.g. Kraftwerk, Moby) to electro (e.g. Delia Derbyshire, Planningtorock, Chicks On Speed, F K A Twigs).
I am very open minded is this regards - as long I can perceive innovation and integrity.

Hold On
Hold On Year: 2014 Album: The Sorrow of the Multi-Sided Shape Genre: Alternative
The imagery of Roker Pier – a place important to my childhood and also the setting of a twenty year recurring nightmare – morphs into the troubled fragments of my imagination and subconscious. The astonishing power of the sea has always been so terrifying beautiful – a duality that has pre-occupied me over and over again. The song began on a dreary afternoon. I was anxious, overwhelmed, very very low and tired – starting to lose my breath as a panic attack took a hold. A companion soothed me, saying among other things, ‘you want to live but you don’t know how’ – holding my hand, stroking my hair and helping me to breath. The attack floated away and within an hour or so, I had written the song. The voice(s), however, largely operate in the realm of my own inner conflicted personality across time. http://irateirate.com/2014/06/24/hold-on/
