Most important for me is finding other musicians with a similar outlook - doing it mostly for fun, and enjoying the creative side of it. I'm less bothered about technical ability - I'd prefer someone who was fun and easy going to work with but wasn't a virtuoso, rather than someone who was technically good but had a massive ego!
I'm 41 and used to play in grunge/indie bands in my youth. I then didn't play for about 12 years, but got back into it after taking part in the FAWM (February Album Writing Month) experience, which I now do every year, and have written about 50 songs over the last few years, some of which I'm really pleased with (you can hear them on my profile)
My musical interests tend to go round in circles - I veer from punk, to garage rock, to folk, to indie, to whatever - but id say that all of them follow a similar aesthetic, in terms of being a bit lo fi and rough around the edges. I love the process of writing, making, recording music, but I don't have much interest in doing a note perfect cover of a guitar solo or someone else's song.
In my old bands I didn't sing and instead just played guitar and bass, whereas recently I've taken over vocal duties. I would say I'm competent rather than great and my range is fairly limited but I can hold a note. I wouldn't mind someone else singing if I could find the right person.
Recently I've bought a drum kit, so I can make my demos sound a bit more 'live'. I can keep time but not much else - if you wanted a really basic drummer to play with I'd probably be up for it if you had low expectations.
I wouldn't want to do anything to do anything too serious with too much of a commitment, but at the same time I don't just want to aimlessly play covers with no focus. My aim would be to be a creative band that mainly writes and plays our own songs, with some covers played for fun, and maybe aim towards doing some demos and the odd gig.
If that sounds up your street, get in touch.

Influences
The Fall, Johnny Cash, Sex Pistols, Billy Childish, Woody Guthrie, early Beatles, 60s garage rock, weird old folk music, Nirvana plus a lot of the noisier/garage end of the grunge spectrum.
Members Of Band
No-one, it's just me churning out demos on my 8 track, doing the vocals, guitar, bass, drums and whatever else all myself.
I'd be open to colloborating with someone else, or forming a band with others to play originals. Not bothered about playing covers although wouldn't mind doing the odd one-off, but definitely don't want to be doing 'Summer of 69' or any guff like that.
EQUIPMENT
The same guitar and amp I've had since I was 16. Sounds fine.
