Rhythm Guitar, Lead Guitar.

ABOUT

The band is committed to playing a diverse range of entertaining Chicago Blues-based material and producing an authentic sound and stage show!

We've made a very conscious decision not to 'go at' the rock scene or the '12-bar white boy' style, as there are so many bands up and down the country playing that in pubs and social clubs. We target Blues-focused venues and festivals.

All of the performances that can be heard through this site were captured truly LIVE at rehearsals! Well, if you're going to play in front of an audience, you only get the one shot at getting it right, right?! :)

JUNIOR MARKS (Vocals and Harmonicas)
Having been transfixed by electric Blues records 'borrowed' from his unsuspecting father's vinyl collection, Junior began playing harmonica as a teenager and, in regularly plugging a cheap microphone into the family hi-fi system while his folks were out at work, he was responsible for blowing the speaker cones - "the amplified harmonica suddenly sounded really dirty and overdriven, but my old man wasn't very impressed as the knackered speakers meant his jazz records sounded anything but pure!" Years later Junior became a committed Blues player and vocalist who uses both diatonic and chromatic harmonicas, the latter being associated with such greats as Little Walter, George Smith, James Cotton and George 'Mojo' Buford. Citing the 'Grand Vizir of The Blues' Sonny Boy (Rice Miller) Williamson and Junior Wells as his main influences, our Junior confesses to probably having been 'affected/infected' by most of the great harmonica players to have blessed the planet! Some of Junior's very first live appearances were as support to The (Paul Jones) Blues Band and also Alison Moyet who, at that time, was riding high in the pop charts with Jazz-based material.

EQUIPMENT

JUNIOR: Custom-tuned Hohner harmonicas, a Marble 'Harpmaster' 4 x 10 combo amp and a variety of Astatic and other specialist vintage microphones that give him the range of tones he needs through a PA or backline.
