SEEKING
Band to Join.ABOUT
Seeking something a little quieter these days having done the loud guitar-band thing. However, a good - but not loud - blues band might be of interest.
I’m looking to join a band, not organise a new one.
Blues outfits aside, a trio / quartet led by a female vocalist doing popular songs in a jazzy / bluesy / swing style would be very nice. Postmodern Jukebox is an attractive style, too, as is 1940s American Forces swing material.
I did lead vocals + bass for years but I am really only limited to backing vocals now.
I am committed but music is just for fun nowadays. Availability and all that stuff is best settled between members.
I am from the Hinckley area of Leics.

Influences
I like some rap to some jazz, Eagles to some classical, Beatles to Stephan Grappelli, Led Zep to Elvis, Oscar Peterson to Latin, blues to lounge, AC/DC to big-band swing, barber-shop to Hendrix. Especially like 1970s disco and funk. Prefer Reggae to Ska. I tend towards a jazz-ish feel for playing.
During lockdown I spent time learning to read music (bass parts). My sight reading is out of practice now, but I only learned to read as an aide to playing so it may come in useful.

EQUIPMENT
According to my wife I have too many basses: she is probably right! My primary instrument these days is the Takamine TB10, fretless acoustic - the one pictured top left. But I have Fenders and Hofners, both fretted and fretless.
For amplification I use small a Trace Elliot setup: the noisy rig - the Genz Benz setup - gets no use at present.
