I started off on piano and have been playing for ten years. It’s my go to instrument and I am very proficient at jazz and blue on it. Most other things I can probably do. Had to play for my church, sad I know, every week for the last four years so my playing live skills are up to scratch. Just don’t ask me to read sheet music, I can do it slowly, but as someone who is much more self taught and routed in improvisation, I’d rather just work from chords.
I’m also quite proficient on the the guitar and bass respectively, having played both for the better part of four years. Whilst I probably know more on the piano, my guitar skills aren’t that far off and I can probably do as well as most other guitarists.
If you check out my soundcloud you will hear very rough demos of songs I have written. They’re very messy, and I nearly never nail the vocals but some of them are quite old and they’re just demos to check out.
