Karhu is a collaboration of UK and Finnish culture who champion the production of great metal music. Broadly classified as Progressive Metal, Karhu spans many genres of the metal experience.

Pronounced by the reviewers as being for fans of Opeth, Lamb of God, Tesseract, Textures, Dream Theater, Stam1na and Meshuggah! The band draws on their individual musical experience to create the “Karhu Groove!”

June 2012 saw the release of their debut album ‘Survival of the Richest’. The first UK tour in July of that year gave them a taste for live performance and increased the desire to take things further.

While planning for 2013, a change of employment for Matt’ Morris led to the realisation that in order to tour that year, a new bass player would need to be acquired. Enter the talented Mr Jake Archer in February 2013 who rehearsed with the UK members for the planned May tour, a 17 date devastation to the towns and cities of the England and Wales.

May 2013 also saw the release of the remixed and extended album ‘Survival of the Richest 2.0’. This 15 track offering also included a DVD release of the 30 minute ‘Rockumentary’, ‘The Story so far’, which gives an insight into the band’s background and is an indicator to their love of fun!

The band continues to look for avenues of exposure, targeting European Festivals as the most likely way of finding a chink in the armour that is today’s music business.
