ABOUT

Hello there!

I am a 26 year old male drummer from Runcorn. I left my old band a year or two ago (before which I'd been playing for about 6 years) due to moving to Runcorn for work reasons and have started to really miss it. I thought it would take longer for me to get the bug again but what can I say, I am well a truly up for it again.

I am looking for a band that is primarily motivated to have a good time and play in front of lots of people. I am well travelled and gigged, having played gigs to hundreds of people at venues such as 53 degrees in Preston, Manchester Academy 3 in Manchester and the Cavern Club in Liverpool. I enjoy the buzz from gigging and like working with musicians to create songs.

I am a self-taught rock drummer, I consider myself to be reasonably technically proficient but I play by feel, I like beats that really get you moving and serve the song to perfection. If all we need is a hard hitting simple 4\4 beat - great, I love that sh*t! A subtle emotional rhythm - totally! Something a little more technical - awesome, lets crack out some different time signatures

I'm looking to play in a band that plays accessible rock music that can reach a large audience. I've played in metal bands with too complex songs for people to get into, songs that only musicians can relate to, I don't really want this. I want something that a crowd can sing along to, something with a great beat, anthemic choruses lyrics, stomping guitars that you can rock out to, that kind of thing. For example the band that really got me wanting to play again was seeing Jimmy Eat World live (finally) in Manchester last month, they were so well rounded it was untrue with a brilliant mix of easy listening rock out tunes and more technical melancholic pieces.

I'd be most interested in playing songs in the vein of: Jimmy Eat World, Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree (yes please), Deftones, Coldplay, Alter Bridge, Incubus, Keane, Foo Fighters, Faith No More, A Perfect Circle, 30 Seconds To Mars, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, but I'll consider anything.

You can hear some example of my drumming at my old band's website:

Note, the drums in these recordings are sequenced (we didn't have the room or equipment to record my drums) but are note for note what I played/wrote. It should give you an indication of the sort of stuff I've done in the past, but is by no means a comprehensive list and only really reflects a couple of the styles that I like.

I'd be happy to join an existing band or start anew. I'd be happiest playing with people in their 20s or 30s. I have my own kit and transport.

Anyway, give me a shout if you can relate to what I've written here, I'm in no rush, I'm not going anywhere, I just want to find some like minded people who want to write and perform ridiculously good rock music.

Cheers,
Karl.
