I'm a singer and saxophonist mainly into swing/jive but also jazz, blues, rock'n'roll, vintage pop/rock, soul/motown and whatever else catches my interest. I value fun and humour in music and enjoy writing songs too. I lead my own swing/jive band One Jump Ahead and also rehearse (and occasionally gig) with a 1920s jazz band and a 16-piece jazz big band. While I much prefer playing in a band situation, a few years ago I started performing solo with backing tracks because the economics make it so much easier to get work. I'm happy to do one-off deps and I'm a competent reader and busker on alto, tenor and baritone. I can play a bit of guitar, flute and clarinet too but not to a high standard!
