The Kongorock Music Project is a unique fusion of Rock'n'Roll, Blues, and traditional Congolese rhythms. Founded by Samuel Djilo in 2021, after his return to Kinshasa from London, the project merges the high-energy spirit of rock music with the rich, rhythmic heritage of the Congo Basin. Kongorock’s sound is a vibrant mix of rock’s powerful vocals, the emotional depth of blues, and the dynamic, danceable rhythms of traditional Kongo, Luba, and Anamongo music.
The project’s musical foundation is built on a tight rhythm section infused with traditional Congolese beats, layered with blues and rock guitar riffs, and tied together with the melodic narrative style of Brit Pop Rock. This distinctive blend creates a fresh, high-energy sound that appeals to diverse audiences. With the band’s experience on stages across Europe and Kinshasa, Kongorock offers an innovative cross-cultural experience, rooted in musical diversity and collaboration.
