I started out playing the clarinet at age 7, and piano a few years later at age 10. I played keyboard in a band for 2 years, rehearsing multiple times a week and gaining a pretty good ability to improvise off chords and write keyboard parts. My background in classical music has a strong influence on my playing and the kind of music I'm in interested in making. I really enjoy fusing a wide range of genres (pop/rock/jazz etc) with elements of classical music, e.g., more complex harmonic progressions and unusual rhythms/time signatures - all while maintaining that satisfying 'catchiness' of pop and a typical line-up of instruments.
