I started out playing the clarinet at age 7, and piano a few years later at age 10. I played keyboard in a band for 2 years, rehearsing multiple times a week and gaining a pretty good ability to improvise off chords and write keyboard parts. Having been initially introduced to music through the classical side of things, I think this influence adds an extra element to my playing perhaps less common in players who have learnt from the beginning within the context of pop/alternative music.
