ABOUT

The London Chinese Chamber Ensemble

We perform ancient and classical chinese music repertoire spanning up to the contemporary field of music played on traditional chinese instruments: the guzheng harp zither; the pipa lute; the willow leaf lute called the liuqin; bamboo dizi and xiao flutes; yangqin hammered dulcimer; banhu, erhu, zhonghu and gehu huqin family string instruments; guanzi double reed instruments; the 4 string qinqin and 3 strin sanxian.

Based in central London, we perform in major calendar festival concerts doing standard chinese repertoire as well as more avant garde chamber arrangements of our own.

Our ensemble comprises a diverse range of musicians, both local and overseas and offer lessons for students in the erhu and bamboo dizi flute and pipa lute.
