Guitarist looking to find like-minded local musicians to form a band based around jamming, writing and recording some original material. Not really interested in covers at this stage, but happy to jam a few in the rehearsal room - just to get the chemistry going.
Influences are mostly 'good tunes' - guitar driven rock from the kinks, bowie, via slightly heavier stuff like the chilles, food and third eye blind, acoustic type stuff like Niel Finn and Ryan Adams, weird stuff like talking heads, big (slightly obsessive) fan of Radiohead. Basically it would be great if we could create some great songs, preferably with a bit of originality and creativity - ass opposed to anything too formulaic or cheesy. Like Finn, when he's being a bit obscure. Then again, I'd settle for writing '4 seasons in one day' or 'fall at your feet' any day! :)
I'd really love it if the band could meet regularly - probably once a week - in a local rehearsal room and just jam and write. Everyone bringing in ideas, or just bouncing off each other to see what happens. If this also means occasional sessions in the pub to discuss ideas, then that's fine too.
Not looking for 'superstars' - just competent players who want to try to create something. The ultimate aim being to record an album of songs professionally, in a studio, that we are happy with.
Gigging isn't such a bit thing for me - at least not immediately and I have family and work commitments, so probably not looking to 'go on the road' or gig very frequently. Having said that, if we get some material together, I would like to get out and play - maybe once a month or so would be about the right frequency for me. Maybe chuck in a couple of covers initially to pad out the set if needs be?
Anyway, if that sounds interesting and you are reasonably local to North Leeds / Leeds - and are up for giving it a go - get in touch!! :)

Influences
Fairly wide ranging, but mainly alt rock / acoustic type stuff. From Radiohead (huge fan!) to Ryan Adams, Springsteen, Green Day, Third Eye Blind, and Crowded House - via Van Halen, Foo Fighters, ACDCand even a bit of Metallica. These days I'm mainly into awesome songs - but I still like the odd bit of volume now and again!
