Bass Guitar, Background Singer.ABOUT
Mark Holland is a Singer/Songwriter from Hampshire, UK. He and his band have performed on the stages of many prestigious London venues including The Troubadour, The Bedford, The Dublin Castle and Bull & Gate. His songs are played on radio stations across the world and he continues to write music with the aim of truly moving people.
Mark’s experience with music started with a gift voucher and continued with itchy fingers, one CD and a hi-fi. At the age of seven his family received a gift voucher for one free keyboard lesson and after going and enjoying it Mark continued to attend classes for a number of years after.
He continued to play and learn throughout his school years and by the age of fourteen he realised that music was much more than a hobby and opted to leave school at sixteen to study the guitar at music college.
Throughout this time Mark was exposed to music of all forms and by the time he was eighteen knew that songwriting was where his fascination for music was truly rooted.
Since 2009 Mark has been writing, recording and performing his own material at venues and festivals up and down the country developing his sound. His debut EP ‘Spiral’ was released on 21st August 2013 and has been played on radio stations around the world.
Mark has been described as writing ‘articulate, understated observations of modern life, expertly crafted with the help of some incredible musicians and a diligent, mature songwriting style’ and his songs have been said to have ‘an ethereal quality... incredibly moving’.

Spiral
Spiral Track number: 1 Year: 2013 Album: Spiral EP Genre: Alternative
Track 1 from Mark Holland's EP 'Spiral' released August 21st 2013 Lyrics: I’m feeling sort of disconnected A million ways to play but I wish it wasn’t so The ones I knew I hardly know, but then I never truly did Faded words on the back of my hands Something creeping up the walls Scared of what I didn’t know but nothing really changes Nothing really changes, nothing really changes does it? And it’s time for you to keep your distance You know the brighter side is not so clear cut Nothing really compares to a spiral down It’s the story of a life Don’t get depressed they say There’s always another day You’ll conquer it all in your stride No, no we don’t change A girl I knew she taunts me from an LCD The darker side of social sites that chip away at me I always wear my colour but something’s washing over With me it’s understated but it’s coming out in phases And it’s time for you to keep your distance You know the brighter side is not so clear cut Hope you’ll forgive me if I keep my eyes shut Nothing really compares to a spiral down It’s the story of a life Don’t get depressed they say There’s always another day You’ll conquer it all in your stride No, no we don’t change There’s something creeping up my spine I know exactly know it got inside It’s rattling around inside my mind Nothing really compares to a spiral down It’s the story of a life Don’t get depressed they say There’s always another day You’ll conquer it all in your stride But we don’t change

Pioneers
Pioneers Track number: 2 Year: 2013 Album: Spiral EP Genre: Alternative
Track 2 from Mark Holland's EP 'Spiral' released August 21st 2013 Lyrics: We couldn’t possibly prepare For the coming day that this all changes We promise only with our eyes Superstitious fear of telling lies And turning the dark against us No we can’t know Which way it goes But I never want to let you go We’re pioneers in this together Feels like we’re sailing west Don’t know what we might find there in the new world Fall off the map and die Or wake to find the bluest skies Carry out the plans we made the year before But we don’t know which way The river flows But I don’t want to see the day you go We’re pioneers in this together So soon you’re gone I’ll watch you take the plane, I won’t get on Wish it was black and white Wish it was black and white Wish it was black and white Sometimes I don’t know myself Too many shades of grey to know if I’m being someone else But your brown eyes they can see me right

Burned Out
Burned Out Track number: 3 Year: 2013 Album: Spiral EP Genre: Alternative
Track 3 from Mark Holland's EP 'Spiral' released August 21st 2013 Lyrics: I'm not a pessimist I Just sometimes see the world as it is But I prefer to just stay numb If I don't I'll come undone Unravel like a string Lose a piece and I'll know it's won Now I've worked it out I realise why I drove your love away I know that I was not a man But masterful at forcing you to stay Would you listen if I broke down at your feet? Would you let me raise my hands and say I'm the fool? I could ask for another chance but I won't lie to myself, no I know The last chance was some time ago Closing time And all the people all around me fall in line It's all a cold machine I see it all through eyes of damaged green I'm barefoot on the pedals and I'm blistering At times you were a bitch to me But it's just because I drove your love away I know that I was bad for you I know why you had nothing more to say Would you listen if I broke down at your feet? Would you let me raise my hands and say I'm the fool? I could ask for another chance but I won't lie to myself, no I know The last chance was some time ago I'd like to think that I'm just late but I know it's worse I'd like to tell you what I am but you know it I know the moment that I left you I was cursed I know my life is done so I won't feel it

The Fall
The Fall Track number: 4 Year: 2013 Album: Spiral EP Genre: Alternative
Track 4 from Mark Holland's EP 'Spiral' released August 21st 2013 Lyrics: Starting out, I knew that I could be the person who would change the world With the rest I stood my ground against the other side, and then I won the house with clever words Then we built the web with steel and promises, and we kicked the liars from the game I was the one who cared, and when they called for me, I helped the ones who needed it the most Then the web it turned on me and I got caught, it pulled me down and then I was gone, gone And the lies came crashing down You know we had some good intentions at the start but I guess we lost it You know I used to be the one who had a heart but I just stopped caring So we learned to play the darker games, Pandora learned to leave the box unchained, we help ourselves to what’s inside But I can’t get enough, I’ll look anywhere for it, I want the key to every door, I’ll cross the floor if I can get something more I am the trusted one, but I’ll sell out, I’m a sinner with a vice, every pocket has a price I know I used to be so different at the start but I guess I lost it You know we used to be so good then fell apart ‘cause we just stopped caring And if the men with pen and paper should find out, well I guess I’ll take the fall Was I always like I am, did I change? I know I’ve always liked the power, but it’s strange You know I used to be the one who had a heart, but I just stopped caring
