I am a 43 year old musician, from Liverpool, now living in bonnie Scotland. I play bass - having graduated from 6-string guitar several years ago. I played lead in a band, until we got someone better. Rather than play rhythm guitar, I stood in for our missing bass player & loved it! I have stuck to this much underrated instrument ever since.
I enjoy playing covers but would like to collaborate and write our own songs. I have a grade 5 ABRSM music theory qualification & have previously composed my own original pieces (string quartet, orchestra) in sheet-music form.

Influences
My taste in music is very eclectic! From classical to metal, I engage with all genres of music! I enjoy listening to rock/metal (Iron Maiden, GnR, Metallica) & pop-punk (Blink, Green Day). Although you're just as likely to catch me listening to Eminem, Mozart or even Britney Spears!
I enjoy playing anything with melodic, moving bass-lines. As long as it is interesting for me to play, that's all I need to motivate my practise.

Live Every Moment [Original Backing Track - NO VOCAL]
Live Every Moment [Original Backing Track - NO VOCAL] Track number: 1 Year: 2016 Album: The Original Collection Genre: Alternative
This is one of my earliest songs. There are lyrics, but I was unable to record the vocals whilst in my last band, so sadly this remains as a backing track only. All The drums are courtesy of Logic Pro built-in drummer, whilst all other instruments are played by myself.

Are You Gonna Go My Way [LIVE} Track number: 17 Year: 2016 Album: Live and Rocking! Genre: Rock
This Lenny Kravitz classic is taken from my collection of live recordings made during my time with my last band - once again, I'm playing bass.

Knockin' On Heaven's Door [LIVE]
Knockin' On Heaven's Door [LIVE] Track number: 14 Year: 2015 Album: Rockin' The West Coast Genre: Punk
This is what could have happened if Punk had ever met Bob Dylan. You can also hear the Guns and Roses influence upon the lead guitarist, before he bursts into his own original riffs. Please excuse the poor quality sound engineering. You can hear me playing bass.

Johnny Be Goode [LIVE]
Johnny Be Goode [LIVE] Track number: 16 Year: 2015 Album: Live and Rocking! Genre: Blues
A cover version of the Chuck Berry classic. Despite clear evidence to the contrary, I can honestly say that we didn't notice we were playing this song far too fast until we played back the recording of the gig! Recorded during a series of gigs during 2015, this was our first live performance together as a group, and a good example of that adrenalin rush that comes from playing live! That country boy certainly could play, and you can hear me playing bass.

Purple Haze 2015 [LIVE]
Purple Haze 2015 [LIVE] Track number: 12 Year: 2015 Album: Rockin' The West Coast Genre: Rock
This is my an early performance the Jimi Hendrix experience classic, Purple Haze, of one of my old band's more popular covers. This is the first of two recordings I have of the same some, recorded approximately one year apart. It is interesting to note the difference in the two recordings... As usual, I am playing bass.

Purple Haze 2016 [LIVE] One year on...
Purple Haze 2016 [LIVE] One year on... Track number: 15 Year: 2016 Album: Live and Rocking!
This is the second recording of my old band's cover of a Jimi Hendrix classic. One year on from the first recording, this track shows how we had gelled together as a band. From timing to dynamics, I like to contrast this song with the earlier version.

Purple Haze In the Studio [LIVE]
Purple Haze In the Studio [LIVE] Track number: 12 Year: 2016 Album: In The Studio
I have found yet another version of Purple Haze! I guess we really liked this song. This was recorded shortly before we parted company, and if you have listened to the other versions I have uploaded, I think this track is a nice conclusion to the journey we took as a band. As aging 30 and 40-something amateur musicians, our ambition was simply to play great music together, and maybe perform a few gigs. I think we achieved that! This was recorded live in a home studio, but despite the clear benefit of audio quality, I believe the contrast goes beyond audio quality - there is clear improvement in all band members and in how we played together as a band. I think its a mark of the standard we reached, when the only obvious error in this track is the lead singer not muting his strings causing the odd bit of feedback - I like to say it was so you knew we were live and not multi-tracked! I just wish the other members of the band had shared my ambition to collaborate and write our own music.

Foxey Lady [LIVE]
Foxey Lady [LIVE] Track number: 3 Year: 2016 Album: In The Studio Genre: Rock
Another cover, this Jimi Hendrix classic was a band favourite during our time together. This was the second song we jammed together the evening that we formed our band, and it's fitting that this was also one of the last songs we recorded in our home practise room-come-studio. Nobody parks their cars in their garages these days anyway!
