I am a guitarist and songwriter with a bunch of original songs that I’d like to get recorded with the right singer, work as a duo, potentially make a band, do some gigs.

This is not a paid project as yet, but something that someone who is into original music would like to do because of their passion for making music. But I want to make something of exceptional quality that could lead to professional opportunities – ultimately to find a manager and/or a record company. At the moment it’s not a project in which I’m looking to co-write – largely because I have a lot of songs already and also because I the way I write is usually chords/melody/lyrics all at once. However, if a good relationship was established, that possibility could be explored.

I am into all kinds of music including (but not limited to) artists like Radiohead, Midlake, Mystery Jets, John Martyn, Nick Drake, Jeff Buckley, PJ Harvey, MGMT, Led Zeppelin, Amadou and Mariam, flamenco, etc. Plus the usuals like Beatles, Bowie, Hendrix, Doors, Lou Reed, Dylan, . I’m looking for new approaches and outlets. I have a lot more songs with diverse styles including electronic, acoustic, rock, folk and more.

I’m interested in finding people with interesting, original voices rather than X-factor or similar showtune voices, or jazz/soul voices (even though I like this genre). If you are interested, please send me a reply and a link to some of your recorded work on myspace or soundcloud or whatever. If you don’t have anything posted online, send me an email and I will write back and you can send me an attachment. It may take a while to see if your voice fits the sound, so you would need to be happy to meet up a few times and just see how things worked.

Unfortunately, I just don’t have time to see people who don’t have something recorded they can show me. But I don’t mind about the quality of any recording, you can send me something you’ve recorded on your phone without any backing if you like, that’s fine, I’m interested to hear what your voice sounds like, not how good your recording is (or what kind of songs you’ve recorded).

I’m 40 and I live in Cambridge not London. But I’m happy to jam at a rehearsal studio in London and also my brother’s flag in London. For recording, I can bring my recording gear to London if necessary and record at my brother’s flat, or we could meet up in Cambridge (I can pay for train ticket, it takes 45 mins).
