Growing up in Tanzania , East Africa and his parents from Ghana ,West Africa, Nana D was surrounded by the traditional music of his homeland as well as the Motown, disco and funk in his father’s record collection.
A subsequent move to the UK, his Godmother Carroll Thompson known as the Queen of Lovers Rock took him under her wing, from which was immersed in the Lovers Rock classics. The young music enthusiast was introduced to hip-hop from Planet Rock to Dr Dre,Nas etc and later UK jungle and garage scenes.
He also forged a career in film production, a skill which he now utilises in his most recent music projects,drawing inspiration from french artist/filmmaker Woodkid, Imagine Will i am producing music and cutting videos under one roof.
Most recent collaboration is a release with Spanish rapper/singer Lorena who nana has taken under his wing
Nana is currently working on new music with producers Picasso, Dr Benstien and Jordan Crisp, forming the soundtrack to his short film which is based on his life experiences with a blend of sounds stemming from africa with a mixture of music from the west.
