ABOUT

Italian bassist Paolo Succo's musical journey began at 17 when the bass guitar stole his heart. On June 1st, 1992, he bought his first bass and never looked back. Under the mentorship of Roberto Piccolo (Abiogenesi), Paolo honed his craft and rocked Turin's pubs and clubs.

From 1993 to 1994, Paolo jammed with local bands and worked at Camelot Music Studio. His big break came in 1994 with Evasione Parallela, diving deep into studio sessions. Hungry for growth, he played with diverse bands from 1995 to 1999, spanning genres from pop to metal.

Paolo's skills skyrocketed with guidance from renowned bassists Roberto Celio and Massimo Camarca, attending top seminars by legends like Jeff Berlin. He even dabbled in piano with Nino La Piana in 2001 to sharpen his harmonic skills.

In 1998, Paolo met drummer Gianfranco Marzano, sparking the creation of Route 66 with guitarist Massimo Bindi. Their rock vibes thrilled crowds, leading Paolo to collaborate with standout musicians like Giustino Barletta and Piero D'Agostino. By 2002, he was teaching at AMM, Modern Music Academy, and playing with pop/rock band Frame, which earned local fame.

Joining Magma in 2003 opened international doors, touring France, Switzerland, and Italy. His parallel gig with the Travelling Band, a CCR tribute, showcased his versatility. The pinnacle came in 2004 with Luca Frencia Orchestral, blending minds and sounds with forward-thinking musicians.

Paolo's live performances with Magma, Luca Frencia, Frame, and more were electric, including charity musical FVG at Turin's Piccolo Regio Theatre. By 2005, he rocked with hard rock band Fear Bother, Big Mama Band, and Hearth 'n Blood.

London called in 2006, and Paolo balanced teaching with playing. By 2010, he was back on stage with Andrea Ianni's heavy rock/funky bass band. His session work thrived, leading to a stint with E-Mute in 2014 and a Deep Purple tribute band in 2015.

Paolo continued to evolve, attending bass seminars with icons like Billy Sheehan and Lee Sklar. From 2017 to 2023, he toured the UK and Europe with Nitroville, even supporting Marco Mendoza's Viva La Rock UK tour.

Today, Paolo Succo is a dynamic session and studio bassist, proudly endorsed by GRBass and Maruszczyk Bass. Ready to bring the groove, Paolo is your go-to bassist for rocking out and laying down funky bass lines that resonate.
