SEEKING
Drums.ABOUT
Currently seeking a drummer to play 'dancesport' music, for social ballroom and Latin dances in Leeds. 3 piece set up, with keys and bass. It's mostly adapted crooner or pop songs, with a strong emphasis on an identifiable rhythm. Look up Ross Mitchell on Spotify for an idea of style (we won't have an orchestra though!)
Rehearsals are likley to be in Kirkstall, either Monday evening or Frday afternoon/evening, Initially we'll take some time to learn our individual parts at home, then bring it together at fortnightly rehearsals.
The key thing for dancesport music is an identifiable and accurate rhythm on bass/and or drums for the dancers to follow. They often don't pay a lot of attention to anything else!
This isn't going to be a career for any of us - 5 to 10 shows a year perhaps. But once we've got the two sets sorted, they're not to change much. The pay won't be great either, since the social dances don't generate a lot of profit for the organisers - but it will be fun!
