I am trying to set up an acoustic band in the Preston area, the name The Atheist Gospel Society is a working name, if needs be, but I do quite like it. Songs aren't going to be about atheism, don't worry. I just like the contradictory name.
Looking for musicians who play acoustic instruments, that don't need amplification (aside from bass, not many people have double basses). Plan on holding songwriting/rehearsals at my house, so that's an important reason for it being acoustic (aside from being plugged in/mic'd up for gigs).

Influences
Influences for this are bands like The World/Inferno Friendship Society (particularly their latest album, The Anarchy & The Ecstasy), Rasputina (I love how they use cellos to create such a rocky sound, but still with a folk edge) & The Tiger Lillies (Songs with dark subject matter and twisted lyrics are always fun)
I plan on the band being something you could describe as...
Acoustic-Punk-Ska-Soul-Jazz
...maybe. I just want a sound to evolve, but for a punk rock, DIY ethos be the driving force
Members Of Band
At the moment, it's just me. I sing, and play the ukulele (to a bloody good level). I can just about remember how to play guitar, but I've forgotten most of what I learnt when I got the uke. Also, I like pissing about with all sorts of hand percussion, and any other instrument I can get my hands on.
EQUIPMENT
Various ukuleles, including ones built by a local luthier. Beat up acoustic gheetar. Melodica.
