ABOUT

I'm a bass player currently looking for like minded musicians for writing, recording and performing. Initially I would say the writing part is the priority simply because I love to perform and I would prefer for it to be original material. There are no shortage of songs I would love to cover. That’s just not where I want to expend my energy right now.

I usually have no difficulty coming up with material and I have several songs in various states of completeness. However I find it much more rewarding to bounce things off of other musicians. You don't hear things exactly like I hear things and when I hear someone else's interpretation of a part it gives me more ideas (and hopefully them as well).

Playing wise, I like to improvise. I have a lot of Jamband type influences and I like the aesthetic. I don’t mind specific parts, just don’t ask me to play it exactly the same every time. I’m not a jukebox. Of course playing like that requires everyone to listen to what’s going on and to stay in the moment. Actually that’s the best reason to do it.

What musicians am I looking for? I have done the 2-guitars/bass/drums thing to death (which I still love…). I would like to explore additional musical palettes as well. I’ve played with electric violin players, horn sections, sitars, even an electric oboe. Heavy electronic material as well (synths, sequencers, etc…). Anything that helps to create a grove you just can’t put down.

Any of this resonates drop me a line.

Influences

As for influences, most recently I've been listening to Vulfpeck, Cory Wong, Snarky Puppy, Mark Lettieri, The New Mastersounds, Rosalie Cunningham, Organ Freeman, Red Hot Chilli Peppers to name a few. I grew up influenced by Krautrock (Kraan, Amon Duul II, Guru Guru) but also jazz rock (Jean Luc Ponty, Alan Holdsworth, Passport) and a fair share of electronic music as well (Tangerine Dream, Ashra, Abfahrt Hinwil, etc...)

I'm also a long time Deadhead, Zappa nut, Phish phan, etc... I like the jamband vibe and I always find ways to weave interpretation into my playing. I don't mind a specific part but I do want to make each performance somewhat unique.

EQUIPMENT

Gear wise I’m fairly sorted. 4-string, 5-string, fretted, fretless, etc… I can get whatever sound is required for a song. I have a small studio for recording (no acoustic drums or amps) and I primarily use Logic to record but I also have Cubase and Luna as well.
