Hi Folks,
we are The inside, an original band from Renfrewshire. We are seeking a drummer to gig our current set with us, develop new material and also for the occasional recording project. However, if you are a keyboard, piano or synth player, please feel free to get in touch as we are interested in you also!
Sound
Our sound has been described as alternative, progressive, avant garde, rock. We've been likened to the occasional obscure artist and some more mainstream - probably best you judge for yourself.
The current set is not really representative of where the next set may end up, and we are happy with allowing the music to meander this way.

What We Need
We need a drummer who can offer moderate commitment. Specifically, weekly rehearsals (most weeks), 4-8 weekly gigs (dependent on how quickly we can get more material ready), prepared to either get involved with (or tolerate!) the writing process in the studio. It won't be all rehearsing and playing, as an original band we do need to work on new material to offer something new to audiences and listeners, and keep ourselves engaged and stimulated. We rehearse in Standing Stone studio in Barrhead.
As a person, we do require a certain level of maturity from you. While we hold no delusions of grandeur, fame or fortune, the music and the band mean a lot to us. It is for the sheer love of music, growth and expression that we continue. At risk of sounding like a dating ad, a good sense of humour would also help!
Gigging
The current set has been gigged a couple of times, and seems to have went down quite well. Our last gig was a support slot at Oran Mor in Oct 2018. Our circuit is Glasgow/Paisley, although we could possibly travel further within reason.
Should you feel ready, we are hoping to start gigging again in November/December, but we want you to be comfortable, no point in any of this we don't enjoy it!
Rehearsals
We all tend to get involved in the arranging and development of demos. We understand that not everyone wishes to "write", and that is fine, suggestions and ideas can be shared if you wish. There is no pressure either way, as long as we continue to move forward.
If a gig is pending, expect to be rehearsing the set in the studio until you are playing it in your sleep. It makes for a much nicer experience on stage for everyone, as we know we can rely on each other to be our best.
FYI: Our last drummer unfortunately left to attend university in another city that was too far away to sustain commitment to the band.

Influences
Our personal tastes in music for listening to range from classical to classic rock, from trip-hop to funk, from progressive to ambient, from metal to reggae to punk and progressive - did I leave anything out? We are not attempting to recreate anything that has already been done, despite the difficulties with being truly "original", so take the word "influence" with a pinch of salt.
